01 / Animal & Source Identification

Identity begins before an animal enters the processing pathway.

The farm-side record should identify the animal or controlled source group and connect it with origin, location, feed, health, treatment, weight and finishing information where available and relevant.

    Use an animal ID or controlled source-batch reference that remains readable at handover.

    Source Evidence

    Connect farm, ownership or custody and movement information to the production record.

    Retain health, treatment, residue and exception information relevant to readiness decisions.

02 / Batch Continuity

The batch reference carries identity through transformation.

At slaughter and processing, continuity should link animal or source-batch identity to slaughter batch, carcass reference, product code, packing unit and shipment batch. Segregation and reconciliation are essential where multiple sources or products are handled.

03 / Documentation Pathway

Operational records must align with the shipment file.

Traceability supports export coordination only when the batch references appearing in production, processing, QA, packing and logistics records are consistent with the documents required for the intended route.

    Check names, dates, quantities, product descriptions and batch references across the file.

    Certificate Linkage

    Connect Halal, veterinary or health evidence to the actual batch and destination requirement where applicable.

    Retention & Access

    Define the record owner, storage location, access rights and audit trail for each evidence set.

04 / Review & Exception Handling

A broken information link becomes a controlled exception.

Missing, inconsistent or unreadable records should not be bridged by assumption. The issue should be logged, assessed and resolved—or the affected animal, product or batch held outside the release pathway.
